Egg History

New Eggs out this week! Even a plush toy! (Soft Boiled Egg should be in at Baker Boys tomorrow)

I thought it was time for a little re-cap, we’ve been making egg shapes since 2016, there was a little break between Fall 2016 and Spring 2018, but we’ve been pretty consistent with egg shapes since then.

The first egg shape we made was suggested by Shimizu, it was loosely based on a Mike Carrol shape. I don’t know if you remember shapes back then but the wheelbases were super short, all under 14”, so it was 8.5 but because of the wheelbase it felt much smaller.

Riders liked it though, but said that they’d like to see a bigger version. It took me a while to map out a bigger version, I updated the wheelbase and made this one 9.125 in the middle (About 8.625 above the trucks), I tried one out almost reluctantly to be honest, because I really like our popsicle shapes, but I found it so functional that I ended up skating five in a row and getting graphics put onto this shape at the factory whenever I’d need new boards. I rode this with Indy 149’s for a long time and it worked great. I stepped up to 159’s recently.

Summer 2019 Egg was an updated version of the Shimizu one, I made it slightly bigger and enlarged that previously way too short wheelbase. This was part of the Black Summer series.

Holiday 2018 saw the first VERY Big Egg shape, ten inches wide and 32.25 long. People really loved this one, and I was asked for it constantly for the next couple of years.

Fall 2018 we did the Anatomy of an Egg board, I really enjoyed drawing this graphic. I had the idea and it really wasn’t too many redraws before I got it to a place I was happy with. I ended up raffling off the original art for this one.

2019 was the first year that we started making “Razortop” boards. With an unfinished top edge for a more responsive feel. A lot of people ask me what it is and why we used it, it was Chet’s suggestion, he’d seen a Grosso board with it and really wanted to get some boards made up, I tried it and loved it, super responsive on flips, your feet really feel like they’re “Inside” the board when you’re doing a feeble or something. If you haven’t tried it i highly recommend it. It’s all I want to ride nowadays. So it made sense to put my favorite shape on that, and so the Razoregg appeared for Holiday 2019.

The Eggxorcist came to me one day, and I was laughing to myself about the egg guy as the silhouette looking up at the window. In retrospect this could have been a different size or I should have put this on razorotop because that and the Anatomy were the exact same shape and on the market pretty close to each other.

It’d been a while since we’d made the 9.125 Egg by Summer 2020, so it was well received when it came back. I put out a slightly smaller version too (The Fried Egg) from a contributing artist (@lucas_blackarms) Unfortunately our factory closed down for a little while when Covid started and all the re-orders that we had for Summer 2020 boards (Including the French “Videodrome” series) never got made, as we’d moved on to Fall by the time things were back to normal. So the Fried Egg and Gold Egg are hard to come by.

Fall 2020 I just reprinted what was my favorite board, the Razoregg 9.125, and also what was our most requested shape the Very Big Egg, as I’m typing this I just thought “Damn, i should stash a box of those Razoreggs so I always have something to ride” I ended up calling Trevor in production and actually just doing a custom order for some of those boards.

Which brings us up to today, the Space Egg (Same shape as Anatomy and Eggxorcist but with Razortop construction) is in stock at Baker Boys right now, and apparently the Soft boiled Egg board comes in tomorrow. People liked the Fried Egg a lot, and asked me for a smaller one, so I made it 8.7.

Hope you enjoyed this little egg recap. The plush toy is in stock at Baker right now too, I’m so hyped that we got to make that. Got more fun stuff already sorted for 2021.

G Park Sundown Edit

Over the past couple of years I’ve skated Garvanza almost every evening. I’ve shot a few clips with locals and visitors on my iPhone. I’ve had the idea to make a sundown edit for a while, but the lock down because of Covid means more time at home and so I finally had time to go through all the clips and make this edit. Enjoy.

Filmed throughout 2018 and 2019 at Garvanza skatepark on an iphone. Featuring Eli P. Williams, Erik Miranda, Mark Villero, Dead Dave, Al Brunelle, Race Nagel, Chris Colbourn, Chase Newton, the G Park Locs and more... Film and edit by Fos.

Earth Goblin unleashed upon the world.

After months of ads, trailers, editing and hype, Earth Goblin is with us.

It Premiered at the Downtown Independent theater on Main Street in L.A. on a chilly Monday night, 13th Jan 2020. It went up on the Thrasher site the next day, and I’ve been overwhelmed by the messages of support and love for the video. Thanks for letting me share my vision of skateboarding with the world and I’m really happy that it resonated with a few of you.

Earth Goblin update.

Working on it all, looking good for a release next week!! I actually finished editing it all last week, and then ended up going to the mountains for a while. I don’t even know if anyone reads blog posts anymore because of all the new social media stuff like Insta and the like, but I thought I’d share this little update.

Trying to figure out some kind of last minute L.A. premier right now. Stay tuned.
